RoboCup is the world's biggest robotics competition, and it is set to kick off in Singapore for the very first time in June 2010.
The search is now on for the best teams to represent Singapore in the competition's RoboCupJunior segment, which comprises three exciting challenges for primary, secondary and tertiary students no older than 19 years of age (as of 1 Jul 2010).
We would like to invite your institution to take part in the RoboCupJunior qualifying round:
What: RoboCup Singapore Open (Qualifying round for RoboCupJunior segment of RoboCup 2010)
When: 24 - 26 Nov 2009
Where: Singapore Polytechnic
How: Download your registration form at www.robocupsingapore.org/open2009/Soccer challenge
In this challenge, participants will build and program soccer-playing robots and take on opposing teams for top honours.
Rescue challenge
Participants will create rescue robots with the aim of locating "victims" in disaster scenarios, ranging from flat surfaces to obstacles on uneven terrain.
Dance challenge
Participants will create dancing robots and join their creations in performing for the audience.
RoboCupJunior will give students an exciting introduction to the world of robotics, enabling them to develop technical skills through hands-on experience with electronics, hardware and software.
Through RoboCupJunior, students will also learn about the importance of cooperation and teamwork, and get to solve problems in a project-oriented setting while experiencing technology with friends.
As this is the first time that RoboCup 2010 will be held in Singapore, you should seize the rare opportunity of taking on the world's best while enjoying homeground advantage.
